I have Registered as an Owner/Agent. What do I do Next
First are you an Owner or an Agent, if you are an Owner of the properties which you are renting, then do nothing as the default profile is an Owner.
However if you are an Agent then you will be dealing with properties which are owned buy others. The site allows you to manage these properties and communicate with the owners to confirm bookings if necessary.
If you are an Owner and an Agent (i.e. Renting your own properties and for others) then set your profile as an Agent and add yourself as an Owner
If you are an Agent and are managing a substantial number of properties, you can allocate properties to "Editors" who create the property listing and enter the details on the site, but do not have any dealing with bookings.
So if you are operating as an Agent go to MyAdmin >> My Options, and change your profie to an Agent and select editors if you will have editors handling some or all of the properties.
What is My Administration Password for
If your profile is an Agent, then the Administration password allows you access to My Edtors and My Owners forms, where you can add, delete and update the Edtors and Owners details. This give you the control over this category. In addition My Options and My Profile also requires the Administration password to access the form.
If your profile is an Owner, then there are no password restrictions, you cannot access My Editors and My Owners. Access to My Options and My Profile does not require an Administration password.
I want to add a property, how do I start
To add a property go to My Admin >> Add a Property, this form needs the basic information about the property its name, district and area, then click on add property.
This will add the property to the data base and take you to the Edit property page, where you can add more deatils, photographs and pricing/availablity etc.
If you are an Agent, then the Editor and Owners selection will be available, The Editor should select their user name, and the Owner. Then enter their editors password and click on add property.
This will add the property to the data base and take you to the Edit property page, wher you can add more deatils, photographs and pricing/availablity etc
I have added a property, but I cannot see it online
When you add a property its default status is off line, this is to allow you to complete all the property details before it can be seen by the public.
To set a property On or Off line, go to My Admin where all your properties are listed, below each one is a button, which wll say "Set Online" or "Set Offline", clicking this button toggles the "Online/Offline" status of the property
What are the picture requirements for uploading
The optimum pictures to upload should be taken in Landscape mode, that is they should be wider than they are tall, the best aspect ratio is 1.33 to 1 (width to height). This is the aspect ratio of most digital cameras when taking a picture in landscape mode.
The file size of pictures is no problem, infact the larger they are the better, The server takes care of the resizing for the site and maintains the aspect ratio of the original picture. So a 2000Kb (2Mb) file is reduced to approx 20/30Kb. But still keeping the resolution of the picture
If the picture files are large and you have a slow internet connection then it may take some time to upload. Therefore if your internet connection is slow it would be better to reduce the size to say 200/300Kb with a graphics package first, a good one is IrFanView which is free and can be downloaded here Avoid uploading small files (less than 40/50Kb) as the display quality is not as good as larger files after the server has resized them.
In addition small files will upload OK, but because of the Client/Server model we use, and depending on your internet connection speed it may upload them before the upload progress window has a chance to display the upload progress. I know it sounds daft but we have to live with it until we find a work around.
If you are still unsure, then turn the property off line and upload your pictures and preview the property details before putting it back on line, there is no limit to the number of times you can upload files, so experiment.
I have set My Options >> My Payments with a PayPal Account. What
do I have to do to setup in my PayPal Account so that I can take
payments via Cyprus Rentals
Enabling the PayPal account option allows you to take credit card payments even if the Renter does no have a PayPal account, they can make payments directly to your PayPal account.
Your PayPal Account MUST be a Priemer or Business Account, as an
ordinary account has limitations as to the number of credit card
payments that you can take, and the account must be PayPal verified
which is a simple PayPay process
If you are using your PayPal Account to take payments via other
web sites then the settings you have to make may conflict with the
other web site for payments, if in doubt ask us and/or the other
web site Admin, or open a new PayPal Account for this web site
The settings required in your PayPal Account are:-
Logon to your PayPal account and click on the Profile tab
In the Profile Summary there is a list under Selling Preferences, click on the following items in this list:-
Click on Instant Payment Notification Preferences, which brings
up the Preferences page, click on edit which will bring up the "Activate
Instant Payment Notification" page. Check the Instant Payment box
and enter the Notification URL "http://www.cyprus-rentals.net/ppposts.php"
(without the quotes), and click on the save button
Return to the Profile tab and click on Website Payment Preferences,
which will take you to the Website payment preferences page, the
Auto Return should be ON and the return URL should be "http://www.cyprus-rentals.net/thankyou.php" (without the quotes), Payment Data Treansfer shoud be OFF,
Encrypted Website Payments should be OFF, PayPal Account Optional should be ON and Contact Telephone Number should be OFF. Then click on the save button.
That all you need to do, now when a Renter goes to My Bookings
a Pay Now Button will appear when any monies are due, so that they
can pay directly into your PayPal account
